Pentecost Sunday
PRIESTS
OF THE PARISH
Very Rev Michael Canny Adm
Rev David O'Kane CC
Rev Gary Wade CC

Say What You Mean ....
We take speech
for granted, until we meet someone of a different language.
As we struggle with halting words or eye contact or
gesture, it serves to show how precious is the ability
to communicate - and how we misuse it.
Words are ultimately
clumsy. What’s said and what is heard can be two
different things. Words can wound or heal. People play
with words - hedging positions with unclear expressions.
Pentecost manifested
the gift of clear expression. Spirit-filled disciples
found themselves proclaiming the Good News without ambiguities,
obscurities or double meanings. The message was for
everyone.
Almost 20 centuries
on the call to clearly proclaim God’s word stands,
whether it be with spirited word or action. Say what
you mean, mean and live what you say.

St Thérèse
developed a simple spirituality based on the spirituality
of childhood—a bold and confident trust in God.
The spirituality of her “little way” was
not about extraordinary things, but rather doing the
simple things of life well and with extraordinary love.
She often wrote about the “book of nature”
and its ability to “raise our souls to heaven.”
