PRIESTS
OF THE PARISH
Very Rev Michael Canny Adm
Fr Peter Raftery CSSp
Rev Daniel McFaul CC
Fr Joseph Varghese

Who is Jesus for me?
I feel that this
is one of the most central questions we can ask ourselves
when reflecting on our relationship with God. The answer
to this question will differ depending on the situations
in which we find ourselves. I’m
sure that the families of those innocent people murdered
and injured on the 30th January 1972 had a very different
answer to who Jesus was for them 38 years ago than who
Jesus is for them today.
The image of
Jesus and our relationship with Jesus is very much determined
by what is going on for us in the here and now. It changes
as life changes. My relationship with Jesus is very
much different now as a priest at the age of 35 than
it was when I was growing up in Iskaheen, and I expect
that it will grow deeper as I journey through life and
encounter Jesus in the people to whom I minister and
who minister to me.
Ultimately for
us all no matter what race, colour or creed, where we
are or what cross life imposes on us, Jesus Christ is
for all of us our Saviour. He died for us so that we
would share in his glory. As the Readings of today imply,
if we lose ourselves in Jesus, if we surrender everything,
our whole being to him, we will be able to share his
life and share in his glory.
