St Thérèse of Lisieux
During her short
lifetime St Thérèse sought to approach
God through a path of simplicity and love. She developed
a path known as ‘the little way’. The philosophy
she developed was to do the ordinary things of life
with great love and attention. “You know well
enough that Our Lord does not look so much at the greatness
of our actions, nor even at their difficulty, but at
the love at which we do them.”
The Little Way
Novena began this weekend. The theme is ‘When
I am weak then I am strong’. A Novena is a nine-day
period when an individual, a family or a community makes
a concentrated effort to pray. This period of intercession
is an opportunity for us all to present to God, through
prayer, our hopes, our desires, our anxieties and our
worries. While the story of our lives is individual
and unique, there can be no doubt that there is a strength
gained from praying together as a community. We pray
for our own needs. We pray for one another. We pray
for the community. We pray for the diocese and for the
world.
Two of the most
integral elements of the Novena are the morning Eucharist
at 6.30 am and 10.00 am and the Evening Devotions at
7.30 pm.
There
will be a guest speaker Monday to Friday at the 7.30
pm Devotions.
